LANSING ? Michigan Virtual University, which provides online education courses and resources, has appointed two new board members – Brian Broderick, Executive Director, Michigan Association of Non-public Schools and Neil Marchuk, Executive Vice President of Human Resources, TRW Automotive.
Jamey Fitzpatrick, Michigan Virtual University) president and
CEO, said the appointments were made at the board last meeting in October, but not announced until Tuesday.
“We’re extremely fortunate to have such quality individuals serve on
the MVU Board of Directors. I greatly appreciate their willingness to
volunteer their time to provide leadership, direction and governance
support for MVU,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’m confident online learning for the
K-12 community will benefit from their contributions.”
The 20-person MVU board is comprised of individuals representing,
business, industry, higher education, K-12 education and state government.
The new board members are:
Broderick who provides leadership in the work of MANS Board of Trustee
committees and activities involving administrators, teachers and
parents. The MANS association serves schools of the seven Catholic
dioceses of Michigan, Michigan Region of Christian Schools
International and Michigan District of Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod Schools.
Marchuk who is responsible for the strategic leadership of TRW’s
international human resources and serves as a member of the
management committee. TRW Automotive is a Livonia-based automotive
supplier that employs in excess of 63,000 people in more than 200
facilities around the world.
MVU, a private, not-for-profit Michigan corporation established in
1998, delivers online education and training opportunities to the Michigan
educational community. MVU operates the Michigan Virtual School, one
of the largest state-sponsored virtual schools in the nation, which
provides online courses and resources to K-12 students and Michigan
LearnPort, a web portal that provides professional development courses
and resources to K-12 teachers, administrators and school district support
personnel.
