MUSKEGON – Muskegon ranked third in job growth for the year among other major metropolitan areas across Michigan, according to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, & Budget. From October 2012 to October 2013, Muskegon saw a 2.3 percent increase in non-farm employment and added 1,400 jobs.

Muskegon ranked third in the state for job growth behind its West Michigan neighbors, Grand Rapids (3.7 percent growth) and Holland/Grand Haven (2.7 percent growth).

The largest area of growth for Muskegon County was in the leisure and hospitality sector which experienced 12.5% growth in employment during 2013.
