AUBURN HILLS – Plex Systems announced it raised enough money to provide 11,282 days of food for the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan’s 2011 Food Fight to Tackle Childhood Hunger. The amount was the highest among participating companies with 100-250 employees, as well as the largest amount of all 30 participating companies. These efforts will provide food to help feed hungry local children.

This year, to help further the benefit to Gleaners, Plex Systems matched any employee donation of $20 or more. The Plex Systems donation match was in addition to matches made by the Hunger Free Summer campaign, underwritten by the Charter One Foundation and supported by other generous match donors. This is the second year Plex Systems has participated in this worthy cause.

Supporting community organizations across Michigan is a vital element of the Plex Systems corporate culture. Each year, the company?s staff selects one or two charities to support, and produces a variety of fundraising events and other opportunities for employees to get involved. This year the staff chose to support Gleaners as well as the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation.

Gleaners? Food Fight to Tackle Childhood Hunger is a contest between individual businesses or teams of businesses to collect the most donations over the course of 11 days in July to help feed hungry people of Southeastern Michigan. Every three pounds of food or each dollar donated equals one day of food for those in need. Overall, the companies participating in the 2011 Food Fight raised enough money to provide more than 34,000 days of food.

?Throughout the history of Plex Systems, our employees have consistently been very active in supporting our local community,? said Plex Systems CEO and President Mark Symonds. ?We believe that nothing is more important than helping our neighbors in need. It is truly a privilege to help an organization like Gleaners in its important work.?
