AUBURN HILLS – Manufacturing software maker Plexus Systems has signed contracts with Wescast Industries, a supplier of cast exhaust manifolds for passenger cars and light trucks. Under the agreements, Plexus will provide a global implementation of Plexus Online.

The contract kicks off with the Wescast Asian Business Unit, based in Wuhan, China. One facility in North America also is included.

“Plexus brought a deep understanding of the automotive industry, core

competency in manufacturing, and the flexibility to meet both local and

global requirements,” said Ed Frackowiak, chairman and chief executive

officer, Wescast Industries. “Through the unique “Software as a

Service” (SaaS) deployment model, Plexus demonstrated the ability to deploy

system changes to meet our requirements in a matter of days and hours,

rather than in the months-and-years timeframe that typical system upgrades

take.”

Plexus Online, built on a Software as a Service model, offers

more than 350 functional modules, providing manufacturers instant access to

vital information and management functions using a simple Web browser. The

on- demand solution features enterprise resource planning functions

such as accounting and finance modules, customer relationship management

features such as order entry and tracking, manufacturing execution

systems functions such as production scheduling and machine

integration and supply chain management functions such as supplier

quality and traceability.

Plexus serves a global cross section of manufacturing industries, particularly automotive, defense, medical device and aerospace companies. In 2006, Apax Partners made a strategic investment in Plexus Systems, joining the founding investment group as stakeholders in Plexus.
