LANSING – The Michigan Public Service Commission warned in its winter energy appraisal that the cost of natural gas could rise as much as 21 percent. Now small business owners and their employees can hedge against this likely increase through a new member-only program being offered by the Small Business Association of Michigan.

Small business owners can enroll now and pay a fixed rate of $0.998 per thousand cubic fee for natural gas. This rate can be locked in until April 2010 or April 2011.

In an unstable economy, fixing the natural gas rate provides small businesses with budget protection against volatile market prices

To enroll, call 877-5SBAM4U. Note: Open only to SBAM members who are customers of MichCon/DTE Energy and Consumers Energy.
