NORTHVILLE – IT service provider Tera Networks has teamed up with The Children’s Center of Wayne County to give a few young adults a reason to smile this holiday season. Tera Networks will donate four desktop computers to The Center’s Young Adult Self-Sufficiency Program.
The YASS program provides young adults transitioning out of the foster care system with the tools needed to not only live independently, but become productive members of society. The systems will be delivered on Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 9 a.m.
“We rely heavily on the support of our corporate partners and we thank Tera Networks for their generous donation,” said Debora Matthews, CEO of The Children’s Center. “With this donation, our YASS program will continue to provide a strong support system, independent living skill building and mentorship to local underserved youth throughout the community.”
The computer donation is part of Tera Networks’ TeraG initiative, which helps clients extend their “green” footprint by recycling their technology. Tera Networks volunteers its time and expertise to refurbish and donate computers to those in need.
“This donation marks the first of what we hope will be many donations to come from our TeraG initiative,” said Krishna Kallakuri, vice president of Tera Networks. “Not only do I see The Children?s Center’s YASS program as a worthy cause, I?m happy to know these computers will help someone rather than end up in a landfill.”
