ANN ARBOR – With more than 100,000 people converging on Ann Arbor during Football Saturdays, Verizon Wireless has activated a Cell on Light Truck that doubles capacity in and around Michigan Stadium. This temporary site is a fully functional mobile cell site that enhances wireless capacity.

The COLT enables more Verizon Wireless customers to use their wireless

phones concurrently to make voice calls; send email and text, picture and

video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download

music, games and ringtones while enjoying fewer dropped calls and clearer

reception. This is the third consecutive year Verizon Wireless has herded a

COLT to Ann Arbor for Football Saturdays.

“Whether our customers are inside The Big House cheering on either team

or just enjoying an afternoon of tailgating, we are committed to delivering

the same reliable service they have come to expect from Verizon Wireless

wherever they use our network,” said Greg Haller, president –

Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless.

This enhancement is part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to

expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless

voice and data network in Michigan and throughout the country. Verizon

Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed — $5.5

billion on average every year — to increase the coverage and capacity of

its national network and to add new services. More than $1.7 billion of

this investment has been spent in Michigan since 2000. In 2007, the company

invested more than $145 million in Michigan network improvements.
