DETROIT – In May, Verizon Wireless announced the introduction of XLTE in Michigan. Now it’s expanding the service into additional markets including Adrian and Menominee. Verizon Wireless now has XLTE in more than 400 markets.
XLTE also is operational in thirteen other Michigan markets; Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Mt. Pleasant, Saginaw- Bay City, Muskegon, Marquette, Iron Mountain, Benton Harbor, Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Houghton, and Lansing.
XLTE is a consumer-friendly way of describing the added capacity (bandwidth) that is being delivered to Verizon Wireless customers by activating our 4G LTE service on our AWS spectrum. The industry and tech world recognize that AWS deployment is a big deal, and we want consumers to know too.
Another way to think of it. Adding XLTE to our 4G LTE network is like doubling the number of lanes on a freeway from 10 to 20. All traffic can move faster but we haven?t changed the speed limit.
Here?s what you need to know:
XLTE is available in 420 4G LTE markets nationwide, including Adrian and Menominee.
XLTE delivers faster peak speeds and greater capacity in markets where 4G LTE service is being delivered over AWS spectrum.
XLTE Ready 4G LTE devices take advantage of both our original, nationwide 700 MHZ 4G LTE spectrum as well as the new AWS spectrum that has been activated in high-traffic areas.
XLTE creates more ?headroom? on the network for all. Customers with non-XLTE devices still get the super-fast speeds and coverage of 4G LTE, and also benefit from the added capacity that XLTE brings to high traffic areas.
Some of the most popular Verizon Wireless 4G LTE devices are XLTE Ready, including the newest DROID devices; Samsung Galaxy S4, S5.
