DETROIT – After testing 125 metro areas over the past six months, Root Metrics gave Verizon Wireless top honors for Overall Performance in more cities than any national wireless provider in its Metro RootScore, including the award for Overall Performance in Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor.
Nationally, Verizon Wireless won or tied for Overall Performance in 115 out of 125 metro markets, better than 9 out of 10.
Verizon Wireless owns and operates the nation?s largest and most reliable 4G LTE network which was first deployed in Michigan in 2010.
Our ongoing capital investment program ($9.4 billion in 2013 alone) helps to expand and maintain the company?s nationwide wireless network, including its 4G LTE and XLTE/AWS build out. Of that $9.4 billion, we?ve invested $2 billion alone in our wireless network in Michigan since 2000 to ensure our customers have the most powerful network available.
Last year, we began deploying AWS spectrum to meet consumer demand, adding capacity to our data network in some of the busiest markets in the U.S. The spectrum, branded as XLTE, is today available in more than 300 markets, including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Benton Harbor, and Houghton.
Through the introduction of innovative technology such as XLTE, Verizon Wireless demonstrates network leadership by building upon our 4G LTE network first introduced in December of 2010, and now covering more than 500 markets and 306 million POPS. Winning several RootScore Awards across many markets points to the strength of the Verizon Wireless network.
