TROY – The public can learn web development design and techniques at a free monthly meeting of the Walsh College Open Source Community on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Troy Campus in Room 199. Breakfast and registration will be 9:30 ? 10 a.m., and the program will run from 10 a.m. ? Noon.
The Walsh Open Source Community is a group of professionals and community members who share knowledge for all topics related to Internet technology. The group participates in open source, or shared, web-based projects and holds monthly meetings where attendees can learn various aspects of web design, development, project management, digital imaging and other useful topics to be successful in the web business. The group is also a discussion forum for how technology changes society.
During the meeting, Michael Curtis will demonstrate Jing, a freeware tool, and show how to add audio, screen captures and video to websites. Curtis is from TechSmith.
Thomas Pitkin will provide techniques to display websites on the first few pages of a Google search. Pitkin is senior vice president and director of Web Marketing & eCommunications for Flagstar Bank.
