SOUTHFIELD – Warner Norcross & Judd LLP Partner Dennis J. Donohue has been named chair of the Mining and Mineral Extraction Committee of the American Bar Association Section on Environment, Energy and Resources.
An experienced environmental law attorney, Donohue will serve a one-year term leading the committee, which provides a forum for research, study and discussion of the issues facing the hardrock and coal mining industry, including sustainable development and climate change. The committee brings together those with international in national and international laws and policies guiding and regulating the mining industry.
Donohue concentrates his environmental practice on mining, Clean Water Act permit development and enforcement issues, water withdrawal, ground water discharge and sediment remediation, among other issues. He is currently chair of the Natural Resources Committee of the State Bar of Michigan Environmental Law Section, and has served on the council of the section. He was also a past chair of the Grand Rapids Bar Association Environmental Law Section.
Donohue is recognized by Best Lawyers in American, who named him the Grand Rapids Water Law Lawyer of the year in 2013. He is also recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer.
Donohue is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and Michigan Wetlands Association.
