DETROIT – More interviews from the North American International Cyber Summit, this one with David Behen, the state of Michigan’s Chief Information Officer. Behen said Michigan is one of the nation’s leaders in cybersecurity, in large party thanks to the guidance of Gov. Rick Snyder.

Behen said Virginia, Missouri, Ohio and Indiana are catching up, but Michigan still has a unique leadership style in the cyber space. He said the partnerships in the cyber ecosystem is probably the model for the nation. For instance, the Michigan Cyber Range, the Michigan Cyber Civilian Corps, and Michigan Cyber Training.

Snyder developed the state’s cyber strategy over a weekend, handed it off to Behen and he executed the plan. Behen cited state, local, and academic support for making Michigan one of the top state’s for cyber security. Good thing becuase Behen said the state gets attacked by bad guys 2.5 million times each day.
