SOUTHFIELD – Michigan Cyber Patriot is a program aimed at grade-school students to provide them with the knowledge to surf the web safetly and not run afoul of cyber hackers.
Joining Matt and Mike on MItech TV is founder Tamara Shioemaker who appealed for financial help, and mentor support, to keep the decade-old program operational.
“We provide in-person and online awareness presentations and training sessions across the state,” she said. “We hold multiple Summer Camps across the state and an annual Awards event celebrating the student’s success. We attend cybersecurity associations recruiting volunteers for the mentoring program and to increase corporate support of this program. Our hope is to have enough industry support to cover our expenses and ensure that every school in Michigan can participate in CyberPatriot.”
