DETROIT – Challenge Detroit is looking for 30 young leaders for tomorrow who want to live, work, play, give and lead in and around the greater Detroit area for a year of their lives. Deadline to apply is Sunday March 6.
Can retaining and attracting 30 of the best and brightest innovative thinkers really make a difference? Detroit is betting on it. Challenge Detroit fellows have the courage, passion, and drive to make a difference, said Founding Executive Director Deirdre Greene Groves.
“We’re excited to see 85 percent of our fellows stay in greater Detroit after their year ends,” Greene said. “What’s new this year is host companies need to apply. Those applications close on March 14. If a company is looking for top talent and wants to connect with these outstanding fellows, we encourage them to apply.”
Companies pay $36,000 to the fellows. They also pay a $3,000 programming fee to challenge Detroit. Larger companies pay $6,000. For more details, click http://www.challengedetroit.org/the-companies

During their year in Detroit, Fellows gain new insights about the city and the greater Detroit region. We expect, through their experiences with Challenge Detroit, these individuals will be intrigued to stay in Detroit, work in Detroit, even start their own business in Detroit. And by doing so, they will have a positive influence on many other people who are looking for a great city to plant their personal flag.
Take a look at our impact over the last three years
In Challenge Detroit’s first three years, Greene partnered with nearly 60 diverse companies to successfully create over 100 jobs for program participants and forged partnerships with over 30 nonprofit organizations for team challenges projects focused on social impact.
“Challenge Detroit is for companies in the greater Detroit area,” Greene said. “We like them to be located in the heart of the city, but it is a regional effort. That includes Southfield, Troy, Farmington Hills, Royal Oak and the rest of the suburbs.”
Greene said more than one hundred fellow candidates have applied so far. But if years past are any indication of this year’s results, hundreds more applications will be submitted by the deadline on March 6.
