GRAND RAPIDS – Open Systems Technologies has been named by the Association for Corporate Growth of Western Michigan’s as its 2016 Outstanding Growth Award recipient.  The $160 million information technology consulting firm joins the ranks of influential past winners including Wolverine World Wide, Herman Miller and Rockford Construction Company.

The annual award honors a local company that demonstrates sustained growth in sales, profitability, employment and community involvement.  Since 2003, OST has grown its revenue at a compounded rate of 30 percent annually.

“OST is honored to be recognized by ACG as its Outstanding Growth Award winner,” said Meredith Brink, OST’s President and CEO. “This award is a testament that our company’s guiding principles of honoring our families first, delighting our clients, serving with humility and embracing entrepreneurship and innovation will lead to success.”

The company firmly believes in a “culture as strategy” approach to doing business.  And, the ACG award, along with other recent awards, reiterates that the style works.

“How we treats our clients and employees and how we empower innovation are at the core of why we do what we do,” said Bronk.  “Many businesses provide the same services we do, but few do it for the same reasons. Once you have a purpose, you must rally employees behind it, creating an explosive and perpetuating belief.”

According to Bronk, culture isn’t something that a company gives to employees, it’s something that employees belong to, reinforce and live.  Effective, continuous communication is critical in rallying your employees behind your purpose.  To empower behaviors that reinforce a company’s purpose, employees need to know what is expected of them, why they are doing the work and they must be able to have a little fun while doing the work.

Bronk will share more about OST’s philosophy during a brief presentation March 22 at ACG’s Outstanding Growth Award celebration at DeVos Place.
