GRAND RAPIDS – Leaders from Davenport University and Amway formalized their commitment to higher education and talent development with a signing ceremony held at the Amway headquarters in Ada, located a few miles east of the city of Grand Rapids.
The agreement, signed September 29, provides scholarship opportunities for employees of Amway and their family members.

Amway is a leader in direct selling and ecommerce and employs more than 10,000 people who could take advantage of Davenport’s Corporate Education Scholarship.
The program offers up to $8,000 per year in scholarships to Amway employees and up to $6,500 per year to their spouses and children to the age of 29. There is also a 20% discount on professional development certificates and certifications through the Institute of Professional Excellence (IPEx).
Davenport University President, Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D., attended the signing ceremony and said the goal of the Corporate Education Scholarship Program at Davenport is to create opportunities for companies to invest in their employees and the future.
“We believe that lifelong learning is critical for career development and personal growth,” said Pappas. “We are pleased to partner with Amway, a West Michigan company with a global reach, to ensure an educated and productive workforce. This partnership also provides opportunities for their employees’ family members, which provides ongoing opportunities and strengthens our communities.”
The executive director of Davenport’s IPEx, Daniel Rundhaug, Ph.D., also attended the signing ceremony, along with representatives from Amway: Gretchen Payne, chief human resources officer and Megan Wacker, vice president of human resources at AHC (formerly Amway Hotel Corporation).
“At Amway, we believe our employees and their families are central to our success,” said Gretchen Payne, chief human resources officer. “This partnership with Davenport University reflects our long-standing commitment to people and possibility. By working together, we can create more opportunities for learning and growth that benefit not only our employees but also the communities we call home.”
Davenport University has flexible programs for adult learners to earn degrees or certificates in more than 100 areas. Many courses are offered online, and Davenport offers both 7-week and 15-week semesters.
