ANN ARBOR – Rob Luce, VP of the SME Education Foundation, explains how his manufacturing-focused group will use $6 million from the state of Michigan for its PRIME initiative, which offers manufacturing education and career-readiness opportunities to high school students.

PRIME is already in 17 Michigan high schools. With the state money, Luce wants to expand it to 17 more Michigan high schools. The schools pay nothing for the program that costs SME $350,000 per school. SME hopes to select those 17 winning high schools by end of September with a start Oct. 1.
