FERNDALE – Rachele Downs, vice president of entrepreneurial services for Inforum, and Terry Barclay, Inforum CEO, talks about the former Women’s Economic Club. Terry joined the group in 2002 and rebranded it to become a professional development organization for women across the state. Some 2,000 women who are classified as high net worth, meaning they earn at least $250,000 a year or have a net worth of $1 million. Terry said her group works with about 8,000 women each year.
Rachele leads inGAGE is Inforum’s strategy to position Michigan as the Midwest hub for high-tech women entrepreneurs. The approach delivers programs to increase the number of women angel investors in Michigan; provides women access to our network of investors and advisors, guides women through the process of commercializing technology and assists emerging second-stage companies in identifying and seizing new market opportunities enabling them to scale.
According to the National Women’s Business Council, women are starting 1,200 businesses a day—20 percent above that national average.
