FERNDALE – Michelle Grinnell spokesman for Travel Michigan explains why Miles Media Group, a Florida company, was awarded a $389,690 contract to rebuild the Pure Michigan website. She noted TwoSix Digital of Brighton was named a subcontractor on the project and will work closely with the Michigan Economic Development Corp to perform the analytics on the new website, set to debut next year.

Grinnell said 22 companies bid on the website project, 12 of which were based in Michigan. One Michigan company was among the three finalists, she said. Grinnell declined to name that company. She also said Miles Media was not the lowest bidder, but met more of the criteria for the website rebuild than the other finalists.

She said when finished, the website should be easier to navigate for both desktop and mobile users, incorporate content from social media sites, better integrate the Pure Michigan brand and award wining video commercials, and allow tourists to plan trips better.

The first year of the contract is entirely for the redesign, she said. The state also included one-year contract options worth $141,240 each for four additional years for site hosting and maintenance.
