ROYAL OAK – Amanda Lewan, president of Bamboo Detroit, describes its new 6000 square foot location in downtown Detroit at the Julian C. Madison Building on Washington. It will include dedicated desks and private offices, plus a lot more space for start-ups to grow. It is expected to accommodate up to 300 entrepreneurs, up 161 percent from the current 2,500 square foot office at 1442 Brush Street.

Lewan said clients were asking for dedicated desks, and private offices. She said they wanted more privacy. She also was getting more demand from growing startups that needed flexible office space. With the new Bamboo on Washington office, she’ll be able to meet their needs.

Members include programmers and photographers, tech startups, design firms, nonprofits and service providers. Bamboo will be expanding its business growth programming, which includes business workshops, networking events, inspirational talks, peer to peer support, and a wellness and self-care series.

Bamboo Detroit’s new space is being built in partnership with locally owned companies that have grown in Bamboo.  Bamboo member NXT Design, a commercial interior design firm, has created a custom and high quality interior design solution for the new creative space. Detroit’s Rocket Fiber, also an original Bamboo member, will provide Gigabit Internet that is 1,000 times faster than average speeds to the startup community. Rightsize Facility, a nationwide office interiors and facilities services firm, has outfitted the new space with flexible furniture including new glass modular offices, collaborative workstations and seating.
