ROYAL OAK – Justin Coffey, the Microsoft Solutions Manager for Red Level, talks about cyberattacks on this episode of M2 TechCast. Coffey said cyberattacks are real and businesses need to protect themselves from the bad guys who want to steal their intellectual property, hold them for ransomeware and other mayhem.

The SBA estimates nearly half of small businesses will be the victim of a cyberattack. This could cost them an average of $21,000, and that’s not counting lost consumer trust.

 PwC’s Global Economic Crime Survey in 2016:

   36% – More than 1 in 3 organizations report being victimized by economic crime

   32% – Cybercrime climbs to 2nd most reported economic crime affecting organizations

   Most companies are still not adequately prepared for – or even understand the risks faced: Only 37% of organisations have a cyber incident response plan.

          200+ – Median # of days that attackers reside within a victim’s network before detection

        63% of confirmed data breaches involve weak, default, or stolen passwords

       More than 80% of employees admit to using non-approved SaaS apps in their jobs

       Global IT budget stagnant: 0.6% growth expected
