ROYAL OAK – Melissa Sheldon from the Workforce Intelligence Network of Southeast Michigan discusses the Connected and Automated Vehicle report and the demand for workers to fill these jobs in this episode of M2 TechCast.
A new report from the WIN says connected and automated vehicle makers need to work together more collaboratively to identify and develop industry standards for job skills and future training to staff the workforce necessary to ensure Michigan’s leadership role in intelligent transportation systems, a new report contends.
Workers related to CAV currently come from a diverse array of occupations, including engineering and IT, which do not yet have government occupation codes developed to provide a roadmap for emerging skills needs, training, and an adequate understanding of employer needs, according to a new Connected and Automated Vehicles Skills Gap report.
The report – which analyzes data on CAV workforce demographics, employment trends, and demand by employers across the country with an emphasis on Michigan – was developed by WIN and the Center for Advancing Transportation Leadership and Safety at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, with support from the Advance Michigan Defense Collaborative.
