SOUTHFIELD – The Michigan Cyber Patriot program works with grade-school students to teach them how to surf the Internet safely. It also gives them the basic tools they need to eventually become highly paid cybersecurity professionals.
Founder Tamara Shoemaker joins MITech TV to provide details on how the program works, how instruction can also include seniors, and how a national competition that pits schools against each other in a capture the flag scenario provides real-world hands on experience battling hackers.
Recently Cyber Patriot received some funding. But she said she needs more to offer the program to more students as well as fund summer cyber camps.
