SOUTHFIELD – The California Courts of Appeal announced they will be using ImageSoft’s TrueFiling product for e-filing court paperwork.
The Judicial Council of California said it selected ImageSoft’s TrueFiling for its e-filing solution for three reasons: the cost of the project was entirely financed through non-statutory filing fees, the workflow engine and electronic processing files provide all necessary functionality and the solution is powerful yet simple and easy to use.
TrueFiling is a 24 by 7 Web-based e-filing tool that improves efficiencies by reducing paper handling. It allows documents to flow seamlessly from the Internet into the case management system and streamlines the court’s internal processes through an automated workflow.
Appellate Courts in California already using the TrueFiling solution include San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, Riverside and Santa Ana with remaining appellate courts scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2017. Other locations transitioning to TrueFiling are courts in Los Angeles and the California Supreme Court in mid-2017.
In addition to being the preferred method of accessing and sharing documents by individual filers, there is also significant savings associated with the reduction of paper-based documents. As an example, the cost to the State for filing a criminal brief dropped from approximately $100 to an average of $10.51.
“We are extremely pleased to have deployed ImageSoft TrueFiling in our appellate courts,” said California Appellate Court Liaison Julie N. Bagoye. “E-filing and improved caseflow designs have brought a higher level of service at a reduced cost. This is an excellent example of how technology can be leveraged to improve service for our constituents.”
