DETROIT – Just in time for the public opening of the 2016 North American International Auto Show on Saturday, AT&T has boosted its mobile Internet coverage at Cobo Center.

AT&T has upgraded its network by installing a new Distributed Antenna System. A DAS is made of numerous, small antennas that distribute AT&T’s wireless network coverage. It shortens the distance a call or text must travel. Calls, texts and posts are less likely to get stuck in a “traffic jam” of other calls, texts and posts.

“When our customers head out to Cobo to attend this year’s auto show events, we want them to have a great network experience,” said Jim Murray, President of AT&T Michigan.

“We’ve improved the network so they can easily make a call, post pictures, or download apps. We’re continuing to invest in our wireless network to help customers at Cobo Center stay connected whether they are looking at cars, attending a concert or participating in other events.”

AT&T’s investment in stronger, faster connections at Cobo Center will keep auto dealers and visitors better connected than ever before, said Rod Alberts, executive director of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association.

“The North American International Auto Show always features fast cars, and thanks to AT&T, this year’s show will feature faster Internet and wireless speeds, too. With innovations like these, visitors can expect 2016 to offer a great auto show experience.”
