LANSING – August was a banner month for cannabis sales in Michigan with more than $283 million worth of product sold, according to the latest figures provided by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency.
Sales last month were 3.2 percent higher than July, but not enough to equal what was sold in August 2024, when the high water mark totaled $295.4 million.
The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency breaks out sales by medical and adult-use, with medical sales falling 61 percent from a year ago to $500,000, up 1.9 percent sequentially from July.

As supply continues to expand, flower pricing for adult-use has seen a huge decline. In August 2025, the average price of $989 per pound represented a new low, down almost 23 percent from 2024. The question is whether this is the bottom for the year, or will prices decline even more in October when the outdoor cannabis crop is harvested.
Ironically, Michigan sells more units of cannabis products than any state in the nation due to this oversupply situation driving prices down.
Flower remains the top selling product at $121.6 million, Vape Cartridges sold $51.9 million, Inhalable Compound Concentrate $46.6 million, and Infused Edible Solid at $24.1 million.
Michigan cannabis sales are down almost 4 percent in 2025, when compared to 2024, but remain on pace to generate roughly $3 billion in total sales in 2025. Some 16 percent of gross sales is taxed by the state and local communities where dispensaries are located. This year could generate close to $500 million in taxes.
