CINCINATTI – Sunday marks the first 420 − the unofficial holiday for cannabis enthusiasts − since recreational marijuana sales began in Ohio. Dispensaries opened their doors for consumers 21 and older last summer, months after voters legalized adult-use marijuana at the ballot box.
Ohioans near the Michigan border, will be able to buy an ounce of cannabis for prices about two-thirds less than in Ohio. An ounce of pot in Michigan typically sells for $70 or less. Follow this link to see where Michigan dispensaries are located.

If you’re new to the cannabis space, here’s what you need to know before visiting an Ohio dispensary.
How much marijuana can I buy in Ohio?
Ohio limits what consumers can purchase in one transaction. The following caps are combined across all products, meaning you can’t max out in each category:
- One ounce of flower.
- Ten units of oil to vape, each containing 590mg of THC.
- Ten packages of edibles totaling no more than 1,100mg of THC.
Under current law, adults can possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and 15 grams of extracts or edibles.
What kind of marijuana products are available in Ohio?
Ohio dispensaries sell flower, vape cartridges, edibles, topical creams and more. The state requires businesses to package flower in amounts of 2.83 grams, also known as the “Ohio tenth.”
Pre-rolled joints and concentrates with more than 70% THC aren’t available yet.
Do marijuana dispensaries only accept cash?
Many dispensaries only take cash and have an ATM on site. Some accept debit cards or automated clearing house payments.
Also, don’t forget your ID.
Can I order marijuana online in Ohio?
