ANN ARBOR – Long-time non-profit business executive, Diane Durance, has been named as the Executive Director for Mi-Light, a photonics industry group. The announcement was made Tuesday, but Durance assumed her duties at the beginning of February.

She will be in charge of marketing communications, managing membership and Board of Directors meetings, recruiting new members and sponsors, and co-chairing multiple working groups. She also continues to serve in a part-time capacity as the president of MiQuest and on the Board of Directors for New Enterprise Forum and the MTec SmartZone.

“Mi-Light is pleased to announce our hiring of Diane Durance as our Executive Director. Diane brings a wealth of experience after having worked with non-profit business development organizations for more than 10 years. In addition to having been the president of the Ann Arbor IT Zone and executive director of Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest, Diane has been a successful entrepreneur with businesses in three different industries,” said Michelle Stock, Mi-Light’s Board Chairperson. “With the addition of Diane, we are now able to give more attention to supporting our members and growing Mi-Light. We are very excited to have her as part of our organization.”

Durance also announced that MI-Light will host its third Annual Membership Meeting on April 21 at Automation Alley in Troy. The meeting and Board elections will begin at 10 a.m., followed at 11:30 a.m. by a networking lunch, with a keynote presentation by David E. Cole, Chairman, AutoHarvest, and Chairman Emeritus, Center of Automotive Research.

Invitations to attend the networking lunch have been extended to members of Automation Alley, Next Energy and MSSLA. Also welcome to attend the lunch are non-member laser, optics, and other photonic-related businesses and professionals interested in this field.
