FERNDALE – Open Systems Technology Marketing Director Michael Lomonaco says there have been great changes on the profitability side of IT over the past couple of years. How products are used is vastly different, he said. Everything is coming from the cloud, meaning terms like “Infrastructure As A Service.” Who is driving all this consumption? It may not be IT, but a line of business instead.

OST is trying to enable the line of business to speak more effectively with IT, and for IT to partner with the business “where the real magic is happening.” Those who get this new mantra will profit handsomely, he said.

OST is based in Grand Rapids, but also has offices in downtown Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago and in London, England. OST will announce some new international markets in calendar 2016 as well, Lomonaco said. OST works closely with large multi-national customers and have co-created products with these customers, whom he declined to disclose, other than to say they are data and cloud-providers hosting large and complex data centers. The products co-developed fall into the Just-in-time inventory management system around product procurement and speed-to-market, he said.

With the acquisition of Visual Hero, OST’s headcount is now north of 200. He said OST is actively looking for IT folks to join the rapidly growing company.
